The partner of SevenCs in South America, Latincomp, has recently organized a public training course on CEACT navigation software. The training took place in Asunción, Paraguay, the center of the most important waterway in the South American continent.
CEACT (Channel ECDIS, AIS & Course Trajectory) is navigation software designed for professional towboats and workboat operations within the confined waterways of inland river systems. SevenCs has released a new 2.6.10 version of CEACT earlier this year.
The main shipping companies (Vale, Uabl, Horamar) signed up their crews to take part in the lessons. The interest of the companies was matched by the eagerness to learn the skippers showed during the training. More than 70 people followed the lessons and took actively part in the workshops held in between. The course was fully booked and new ones are already being scheduled.
Doubtlessly the introduction and training in CEACT, being the most widely used software for inland navigation, was a great success. Moreover, it became clear that more work and training in future will enable the users to take full advantage of all features CEACT offers and improve navigation safety and efficiency.
Sevencs, Latincomp and many local shipping companies are up to the challenge.
